It is impossible for a man to commit as many sins as can be annulled by God's Name.

Anandamayi Ma

By God's Name the pull of evil is vanquished. There is a saying that it is impossible for a man to commit as many sins as can be annulled by God's Name.

Just as a single spark of fire can consume more things than you ever able to accumulate, so by the contemplation of the Supreme being, by the endeavor to approach Him, all your sins will be obliterated. The destructible will be destroyed and Reality stand revealed.

If it is even possible for you to make one other person chant the Mahamantra, that is the greatest service you can do to Him

After chanting Mahamantra regularly, I can see a change in myself in thinking about God always. I want to serve God in continuation of my Karma and work. How can i serve God? Please advice.

Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji:

Chanting the Mahamantra itself is a great service to Lord Krishna. Further, if it is even possible for you to make one other person chant the Mahamantra, that is the greatest service you can do to Him.

The only remedy is to put in more and more dedicated and sincere efforts. So continue chanting with strong faith.

Nama Article 26th April 2010

Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji

A person was grinding some grains on a grinding stone. He asked how long the grinding should be done. What is the answer? The grains should be ground until we get flour ('atta') out of it. Is it not? There is no fixed time for it.

In the same way, the aim of chanting the Mantra is to attain the Siddhi. If you have not yet attained the goal, then it means that you have not put in sufficient effort. The only remedy is to put in more and more dedicated and sincere efforts. So continue chanting with strong faith.

In spirituality, perseverance is paramount. So keep continuing until the goal is reached.

My goal is to think of the Lord every moment. To achieve this goal I try to chant His name but am not able to do it continuously because it is involved in worldly activities. Kindly show me a practical way to keep thinking of the Lord while we are involved in worldly activities. Is this possible ?

Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji:

Your goal is wonderful and what you are doing is perfectly right. Where you are going wrong is your expectation to attain that state immediately. Your interest is good; at the same time, you have to understand and accept that this is possible only by regular practice. In spirituality, perseverance is paramount.

So keep continuing until the goal is reached.

Restraint, piety and contentment are one’s companions and the sword in the shape of Ramanama is flourishing freely - Sant Kabir

With fight in front a brave person will never flee and he will not be considered brave who flees in the face of danger. In the field of battle the fight has begun in right earnest and passion, anger, pride and ambition are the foes to be fought. Restraint, piety and contentment are one's companions and the sword in the shape of Ramanama is flourishing freely. Kabir says: True warriors will fight bravely, cowards will be conspicuous by their absence.

Do not give way to self-deception but sing the praises of God

Source: "Ashram Bhajnavali" - The version reproduced here is taken from a photostat of the original work in Gandhiji's hand

Do not give way to self-deception but sing the praises of God; for eyes are given to see God, ears to hear words of wisdom, the mouth to sing His praises, hands to give in His name.

Kabir says: Hear O ye good one, gold mine is for producing gold (not merely dust and pebble).

Believe in simple prayers

Source: http://www.namadwaar.org/answers/questions.html

God can be attained by a simple prayer and a longing heart. At the same time, our scriptures also prescribe strict rituals and Upasanas which are highly disciplined and almost out of common man's reach. Why do these exist?

Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji:

They are for those who don't believe in simple prayers.
